About Nepean Cottage

Hi, I'm Alison.
With over 30 years of experience as a counsellor, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside people through life’s hardest moments and biggest changes. My practice supports private clients, NDIS participants, Clinical Supervision and organisational debriefing, and is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and evidence-based care. I bring a trauma-informed, person-centred approach to help you feel safe, heard, and supported, no matter where you're starting from.
Counselling isn’t just about solving problems—it’s about giving yourself space to heal, reflect, and grow.
Whether you're dealing with stress, injury, relationship challenges, grief, or trauma, therapy can help bring clarity, reduce overwhelm, and build new ways of coping. It’s a place to rediscover your strengths, make sense of tough experiences, and move toward a life that feels more like your own. I offer sessions in person via the secure online platform of Microsoft Teams, so support is accessible no matter where you are.
Therapy
Tailored Care
Using a client centred and trauma informed approach,
the therapy is about you and your journey.
Respecting Your Story
I work with the whole person—body, mind, emotions, and history. Through mindfulness, nervous system regulation, and practical tools, we can work together to help you move from surviving to feeling more present, steady, and alive.
Whether you're feeling anxious, disconnected, or unsure where to start, support is here: ready to meet you with warmth, steadiness, and care.

Holding Space for Complex Trauma
Working with complex trauma means honouring complex experiences—grief, fear, injustice. I listen deeply, hold space with compassion, and offer practical, evidence-informed support to navigate what's next.
I use mindfulness, ACT and psychodynamic therapies, and body-based practices to gently reconnect you back to yourself with a sense of safety and presence. These tools can help reduce overwhelm, manage anxiety, and create space for healing.
Trauma Informed
A trauma-informed approach creates a safe, respectful space that recognises the impact of trauma and supports healing with compassion, not judgment.
Everyone’s story is unique, and I meet people where they’re at, with care, curiosity, and comapssion.

Clinical Supervision with Care
For practitioners supporting others, I offer reflective and restorative clinical supervision using the RISE-UP model of supervision. The trauma-informed lens ensures your work is held with care, supporting your growth, boundaries, and wellbeing.
